We are a family-run business that specialises in handmade fitted and free standing furniture across Wirral and surrounding areas. Our friendly, knowledgeable and highly skilled small team has been designing and building beautiful and carefully considered bespoke fitted furniture since 2008. From relatively humble beginnings, lots of hard work and a passion for design and quality the business has steadily grown and is now based from our own purpose built workshop, allowing the precision of modern machinery to operate alongside more traditional joinery methods. We always select the best materials for each individual project, from classic timbers such as oak, walnut and maple to modern sheet materials available in a wide range of colours and finishes. Our belief in the core values of great design, customer satisfaction and an exacting attention to detail are very much the cornerstones of the business.
The Wirral Craftsman story -
Having been born and bred in Wirral, life and work eventually took us on a journey throughout the UK specifying and fitting-out luxury wide-beam canal boats, a journey that eventually saw us settle in a small town in Northamptonshire. A lifelong passion for woodworking lead to the creation of 'The Duston Craftsman' designing, making and fitting beautiful furniture for the local and surrounding areas. However, we never lost our love for Wirral and its people and thankfully family ties brought us home on a regular basis. It was this lifelong family connection with the peninsula that saw a natural progression to create The Wirral Craftsman working with a small trusted family team to provide the same beautiful high quality fitted furniture across Wirral. We may share a modern centrally located workshop with our 'Duston' counterpart but The Wirral Craftsman is very much a Wirral based and focused local family business.
We cover the entire Wirral peninsula and are more than happy to travel further afield into Cheshire, Merseyside & North Wales for the right project.

Freestanding Furniture
Alongside our fitted furniture we also undertake commissions for freestanding pieces of furniture. Dining Tables, Sideboards, Wall Cupboards, Dressing Tables, Desks, Bed Frames, Room Dividers, the list is endless. If you are struggling to find that truly unique or individual piece of furniture speak to us, we can almost certainly design and build it for you.
Bespoke Joinery Projects
We undertake all aspects of bespoke joinery from half and full height wall panelling, staircases and under stairs storage to beautiful handmade fitted or free-standing kitchens. Whatever the project we can help you realise it with style.
Materials & Finishes
Everything we make is from the highest quality materials and available in a multitude of finishes. Painted pieces can be sprayed for a crisp contemporary look or hand painted for that timeless country feel, they can even be distressed if you wish for a more lived in look. Solid wood and veneered items can be waxed or oiled giving a natural and tactile finish, lacquered for durability or stained and polished to enhance the beauty of the grain.
